We're passionate about empowering women and in celebration of International Women's Day, we're proud to be donating $5 from every order until 11:59PM AEST Sunday 8th March 2020, to SISTER2sister.

About SISTER2sister:

The Life Changing Experiences Foundation (LCEF) was established in Sydney 17 years ago, to provide guidance, education, mentoring and a safe-haven for vulnerable or disadvantaged teenage girls. The flagship program for LCEF is SISTER2sister and assists these young women by equipping them with crucial survival and life skills, the resilience to overcome challenges, and an environment fostering self-worth. LCEF works with school counsellors, youth workers, Community Service caseworkers, welfare agencies and police to identify girls in greatest need of education, support and guidance. LCEF recruits, screens and trains successful female volunteer mentors (Big Sisters) to support the Little Sisters and empower them to make positive choices for a better future.

We were lucky enough to talk to Marnee, the National Program Manager about SISTER2sister & what this year's International Women's Day theme #EachForEqual means to them.

Q: Working with SISTER2sister, you must have met many inspiring women of influence, what are some key pieces of inspiration you have taken from these women?

Working for SISTER2sister I'm extremely lucky to be inspired daily by amazing woman eager to give back to other young women and mentor and empower the girls that come into our SISTER2sister program. The girls show such courage, resilience and trust regardless of their situation. I have learnt that women have incredible strength and there is always some one there to back you, especially when you're not backing yourself 100%.

Q: What does 2020’s International Women’s Day theme #EachforEqual mean to you?

I love that the theme calls on everyone to work together to achieve more balance. Everybody and every industry has a role to play and everyone can do their bit to make a difference to achieve equality.

Q: How does #EachForEqual connect with the values of SISTER2sister?

We aim to build women up and support them even when they don't feel they have a voice to be heard. The theme is so empowering for young girls and women so they know there others out there challenging stereotypes and perceptions and celebrate women's achievements. We hope that having such important conversations and days such as IWD supporting equality and women will mean that one day girls and women wont ever question their worth.
